Watch movies in Paint, Photoshop, even on your desktop background

By admin | Jun 15, 2007

Yeah, so here’s something strange I found out about the other day.  You can watch movies in Paint, Photoshop.. you can even play a movie on your background.  So what’s the trick?

Simple.. play a movie in just about any movie player, and take a screenshot while doing it.  Now paste that screenshot into your favorite imaging software, even MS Paint, and watch the movie play.

Ok, so completely useless right?

Well, while you’re in MS Paint, save the screenshot as a BMP file, and make that file your background image.  Now the movie will be playing on your desktop.

I know what you’re doing, you’re trying it right now because you think i’m full of crap.  I wouldn’t have believed it either, until I tried it.

This has to rank right up there with one of the strangest windows quirks i’ve run into.  From what I gather, it’s to keep people from taking screenshots of movies.

Doesn’t work with DivX movies, or flash movies though.. darn.
