By admin | Apr 18, 2007

Just about every keyboard made in the last thousand years (slight exageration) has a windows logo key on the bottom left that can be used for various shortcuts.

Yes, that’s right, it can be used for more than just bringing up the Start Menu.  Here is a list of shortucts you can use with the Window Key:

Window Key = Brings up the Start Menu

Window + L = Lock the computer (with Fast User Switching turned on, it takes you to the login screen)

Window + E = Brings up Windows Explorer

Window + D = Minimize all active windows

Window + F = Brings up the Search window

Window + M = Also minimizes all active windows

Window + R = Brings up the Run window

Window + F1 = Brings up the Windows Help window

Window + Pause/Break = Brings up the System Properties window (same as right clicking My Computer -> Properties)

Window + Tab = Cycles through the open applications on the task bar

Window + Shift + M = Restores previously minimized windows
