In a strange move, Microsoft will be reducing the price of Windows Vista, but only on Ultimate and Home Premium editions, and only for upgrades from XP.
Vista Ultimate will drop to $219 from $299, and Home Premium will drop to $129 from $159. Considering that upgrades are only about 20% of the market, no one fully understands why they did this instead of making the OEM versions that come with new PC's cheaper, which would drive up new PC sales even further. I can't imagine that this will drive that many people to upgrade, since most of the people (like myself) that are still using XP primarily are doing so for a reason.. becasue they prefer the much more stable, driver friendly version of Windows. XP's days are numbered though, since new sales of XP will cease on June30th. I might actually cry the day XP is gone for good.. he's been good to me, for the most part. Vista is just a beast that my measly little laptop isn't ready to handle yet. |
