Disable Tab Scrolling in Firefox 2

By admin | Aug 31, 2007

The most annoying new feature of Firefox 2 is the tab scrolling that is enabled when you’ve reached “too many” tabs to fit before the previous versions would start scrunching the size of your tabs in order to fit.

If you’re anything like me, then you’re always maxed out on tabs, especially if you’re using Session Manager to save all of your tabs automatically.

Look all you want, you won’t find a setting for this in the regular settings sections.

In order to change this setting, type about:config in the address bar and hit enter.

Scroll down and find the browser.tabs.tabMinWidth setting.

Setting it to 0 will disable the feature entirely, or setting it to something smaller will make it only enable tab scrolling when it hits that particular pixel length.

Once you have it set the way you like, just close Firefox and open it up again, this will apply your new setting.
