Every now and then, it might be necessary to remove or uninstall a windows update. For example, if a particular hotfix causes a problem on your machine, you need a way to remove it, right?
To uninstall any Windows update you need to go to Programs and Features. The easiest way to do it is by clicking Start and typing programs in the search box. This should bring up Programs and Features in the results.
In the Programs and Features window, click on the View installed Updates link.
After a few seconds, Windows Vista will load the list of installed updates. Scroll down until you find the update you want to remove, select it with the mouse and then click on Uninstall.
Windows Vista will ask you to confirm that you want to uninstall the update you selected. Click on Yes and the uninstall procedure will start.
Depending on the size of the update, the uninstall procedure can take from a few seconds up to several minutes.
Wait until the progress box disappears and then, if needed, reboot your PC. The update is now removed.
Obviously, please be very careful when removing Windows Vista updates. They are generally pushed out for a reason, like to fix security bugs and such, so make sure that it’s absolutely necessary before removing any Vista updates.
